Abstract

The author discusses 17 century English poet William Habington, and claims that he is referred to in letters about to Queen Henrietta Maria's plan to collect money to support King Charles I during the Scottish Crisis in 1639 and the Bishops Wars. Habington's family's connections to English revolutionary Catholics, the 1605 Gunpowder Plot, and the Babington Plot are mentioned, as well as Sir Kenelm Digby's naming Habington, or Abingdon, as a collector of money for the Queen. The letters are located at the Huntington Library in Los Angeles, California.
