Abstract

Join us for an insightful workshop on the integration of lifestyle sports into physical education curricula! Despite the growing popularity of activities like parkour, skateboarding, and BMX, these dynamic sports have not been widely adopted in schools. In this session, I will present findings from an action research project that introduced parkour and a CrossFit/kickboxing hybrid into two English secondary schools, engaging 48 pupils aged 11-13 over an 8-week period. You’ll gain an understanding of the meaningful physical education approach and how it aligns with contemporary pedagogies. I will share key findings from the project, along with practical recommendations for implementing lifestyle sports in your curriculum. Additionally, we will engage in action planning to support the integration of meaningful physical education and lifestyle sports in your school. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to enrich your PE programme and inspire students through innovative and engaging activities! Deliverer: Jordan Wintle Category: Secondary & ITT
