Abstract
Wider awareness of a whole host of issues, not least climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution are crowding in on us. Our young people are variously fearful, demanding change or in denial. The 'Rounder Sense of Purpose' framework of educator competences covers essential components of what any educator would need in order to handle these issues in their classes or lectures. Piloting with student teachers has highlighted some interesting gaps in regular teacher education and helped to show how a sensitive and action-oriented handling of the these issues can bolster our students' well-being.
