Abstract
Cyril Miles describes his career as a coal miner in the Forrest of Dean, working at Waterloo, Northern United, True Blue pits. Working first on 'the screens' above ground, then underground in various roles including Mines Deputy, Overman, and in Mines Rescue. He describes various working practices and being involved in a mining accident.
