Abstract

Unemployment can be bad for our health – it can be a source of long-term stress, make it difficult to meet our material needs, and result in a loss of identity, social role and social support. Previous research has been able to show this disadvantage not only across subjective health measures (collected by asking survey respondents to rate their health and wellbeing) but by using objective measures, too.
