Abstract

In this chapter, Professor Sarah Jones from the University of Gloucestershire in the UK discusses the use of global collaborations to improve student engagement, learning outcomes and improve employability of journalism graduates. Using analysis of the Global News Relay, which initially broadcast in 2014 involving 11 universities, Jones explores how students engage and develop a wide range of skills while developing intercultural competencies. She looks at the initial engagement, challenges and opportunities that were found. It is well documented that global experiences can help improve employability and outcomes but this provides a framework for understanding it as a tool to promote engagement.
