Abstract
Motor competence is a key facet of physical literacy and contributes to young people developing a positive relationship with movement and physical activity. Early assessment of motor competence in the primary school age group allows us to establish a baseline for measuring improvement and to identify those who may require more support or opportunities to enhance their motor competence. The Athlete Tracker supports this process in an easy-to-use objective way - this article details the importance of motor competence and how using the Athlete Tracker supports young people, their teachers and parents/guardians to assess and develop a vital component of physical literacy.
