Abstract

Over the past decade, different United Nations author­ties, above all, UNESCO, have expended considerable effort on the organization of training programs for human settlement managers. In November 1980, a group of experts met at Chantilly in France to review past training experiences and make recommendations for future actions. This article reports on one of the major themes discussed at the seminar - how best to approach the design and structure of subsequent training courses. At the same time, however, the article also makes recommendations concerning course monitoring and feedback, which, it is hoped, will enable future course structures to be viewed within a common analytical framework.
