Abstract

The good farmer can reproduce cultural capital through environmental management. When environmental management risks the farm business, it is no longer respected. Farmers can lose cultural and social capital through environmental negligence. The good farmer concept is updated to reflect this feature of the rules of the game. Participation in an AES scheme has played an important role in changing the rules of the game.
