Abstract
Photographic work from Billingham's series 'Rays a Laugh' was exhibited in 'Social Strategies: Redefining Social Realism', University of California, Santa Barbara, (18 March - 8 May 2003) touring to University Galleries, Illinois State University IL, (September - October 2003) and DePauw University Art Gallery, Greencastle IN (15 November 2003 - 15 February 2004), curated by Klaus Ottman and Pamela Auchincloss. The exhibition comprised 24 artists whose work ranged from video/DVD/audio installations and neon to paintings and fabric including Tracy Emin, Gilbert & George, Nan Goldin, Felix Gonzalez Torres, Jenny Holzer, Mary Kelly, Barbara Kruger Ken Lum, Jack Pierson, Thomas Ruff, Beat Streuli and Sam Taylor Wood. There was a fully illustrated catalogue.
