Abstract
Early photographic work from Billingham's series 'Rays a Laugh' was exhibited in 'I Am a Camera, Saatchi Gallery, London, 2000. The exhibition was primarily photographic work organised into three themes: "True Life Adventures", "Fiction and Artifice", and "Places Portraits Still Lives Tableaux". Some of the works included were from emerging and unknown artists while most were by established artists. All works offered compelling interpretations of how we live in the modern world. Participating artists included Cindy Sherman, Andy Warhol, Nan Goldin, Sam Taylor-Wood, Jessica Craig-Martin and Andreas Gursky. There was a fully illustrated catalogue.
