Abstract

This presentation, given to the Restorative Gloucestershire conference on 06/11/2017 explores some comparisons between two approaches to Restorative Justice in post-conflict area. In Sierra Leone, civil war left significant infrastructure and social impacts. In Belfast, the legacy of the conflict has led to deep distrust in some communities towards the Police and other agencies of the state. Both examples illustrate how community-led restorative justice has helped to tackle cultures of violence and offer solutions towards peaceful reconciliation.
