Abstract

This article examines the implementation and functioning of a major Enterprise Resource Planning software package in a Libyan oil company. The study uses a process mapping and systems profiling approach to establish the current status of a 10 year project - which the company embarked upon in 2007 - to implement the new company-wide software. It examines the project from the point of view of progress in new technology, new people skills and process change, and concludes that a balanced approach to these three change elements has underpinned successful project outcomes.
