Abstract
Investigations into wildlife crimes are undertaken by the police and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The Crown Prosecution Service and lawyers employed directly by NGO's are responsible for the subsequent prosecutions. This research considers the perspectives of police officers, prosecutors and stakeholders from non-governmental organisations on prosecution practice for wildlife crime in the UK. Raising issues around investigative practice, legislative provisions, multi-agency collaborative working practice, and training, this research identifies key areas for improvement in current practice to better prosecute wildlife crime in the UK.
