Abstract
This research paper involves research over a 9-year period with UK police forces and police & crime commissioners to examine the current policing response to wildlife crime in the UK. The report examines prioritisation of wildlife crime, budgetary constraints, resourcing, training and legislative considerations. This is then considered in the wider context of the criminal justice system, determining the current public policy position for this important type of crime.
