Abstract

ABSTRACT The early years of a child's life are recognized as important for lifelong well‐being. A nurturing relationship with a primary caregiver can give a child the best start in life. Parental well‐being can influence children's well‐being, which can be supported by early intervention. A scoping review following PRISMA for scoping reviews and JBI guidance was conducted to map and summarize existing knowledge on early interventions during the early years (pregnancy to age 5) for families, with a focus on parental well‐being. Thirty studies were included. A diverse array of interventions has been employed to help parental well‐being at varying periods from pregnancy to age 5, with most studies showing efficacy. This scoping review highlights the need to continue to provide high‐quality interventions aimed at parents' well‐being and to invest in research to evaluate them. Future research in the areas of qualitative studies, fathers and longitudinal studies looking at longer term impacts of interventions is warranted.
