Abstract
Olczak's Paper Tending the Table: Rethinking our relationship with the environment through art, storytelling and hosting was a discursive gathering to explore how art can help us to rethink our relationship with the environment. This project drew from Olczak’s current research in extreme places in the world in relation to climate change and the Swedish traditions of hosting a fika. A discussion took place around a table with a foraged centrepiece. Participants will share stories of the plants they have and tend to, and considered the colonial routes of these plants. Participants were given prompts to help them reflect on how storytelling and artistic practice can be used as tools for healing and hope in relation to environmental adaptation and resilience.
