Abstract

This case study explores the economic transformation of Budo, a small coastal village in North Sulawesi, through the Skills for Prosperity training program. Focused on tourism development, the initiative empowered local women to start businesses in homestays, handicrafts, and food services. By leveraging traditional knowledge and digital platforms, Budo emerged as an award-winning tourism destination. The case examines the role of government and NGO support in fostering sustainable entrepreneurship, the challenges of cultural adaptation, and the impact of economic empowerment on community well-being. It highlights how grassroots tourism can drive regional development while preserving cultural heritage.
