Legacies of Slavery in Gloucester. Project Decolonising Gloucestershire.
[Film / Video]
Abstract
Working in partnership with Gloucester City Council’s commission on race relations, this project began in 2020 to examine the heritage landscape of the city and the connections to transatlantic slavery. It brings together various local institutions and heritage organizations to create greater public engagement with this history through local stories, and foster a more sensitive appreciation of the past. Gloucester and the Slave Trade: a documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP-dWf3yGXs was produced as part of the team project, based on the initial results of the review in 2021. It was first screened at the Gloucester History Festival in 2021. Film length 26 mins 34 secs.
