Abstract
Photographic work from Billingham's series 'Rays a Laugh' was exhibited in 'Facts of Life, Photography in Britain 1974 - 1997', as part of the Krakow Photomonth 2010 Festival of Photography. This exhibition explored through ten photographers the political and societal changes that took place in the UK during 1974 - 1997. The exhibition also charted a visible change in British Photography, from the sociological, black and white record of British society in the 1970s to the colour photography of the 1990's. Other artists included Chris Killip, Chris Steele-Perkins, Jem Southam, John Davies, Paul Graham, Tom wood, Martin Parr, Anna Fox and Tom Hunter. There was a fully illustrated catalogue to the Festival with a chapter on the British Photography exhibition and an essay by Katy Barron.
