Photographic work from Billingham's series 'Rays a Laugh' was exhibited in 'Why Pictures Now? Photography, Film, Video', Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludvig Wien, Austria, (9 June - 1 October 2006). Artists exhibited included Nobuyoshi Araki, Bernd and Hilla Becher, James Coleman, Thomas Demand, David Goldblatt, Nan Goldin, Andreas Gursky, Candida Hofer, Sharon Lockhart, Wang Qingsong, Thomas Ruff, Thomas Struth, The Atlas Group, Jeff Wall, Christopher Williams and others. There was a fully illustrated catalogue to the exhibition.
