Abstract
The Barbican Estate is a residential estate built after World War II. It is located in the Square Mile of Central London. The name of the Barbican comes from the Latin word 'barbecana', meaning a fortified gateway or outpost. Part of London’s Roman Wall survives on the estate. The architectural style of the design is ‘Brutalist’ modernism. How to adapt the landscape approach to enhance the sustainability of the Barbican in the 21 century by applying the landscape approach? It will be discussed in the presentation.
