Abstract

The aim of this analysis is to investigate ways in which current regeneration schemes provide further opportunities in developing industrial heritage tourism enterprises in the South Wales valleys with particular application to Merthyr Tydfil. The analysis involved several key partners from across the community and voluntary sectors, local authorities and funding and tourism bodies under the auspices of the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG). The research reported on eight case study structured interviews and the data collated to produce, in combination with the contemporary literature, four key themes to achieve a sustainable regeneration scheme for heritage enterprise development.
