Abstract
Connected Listening is a trans-temporal and multimodal type of listening that can be effectively used as methodological tool in media and memory work, specifically when thinking with and across age(s). Using an example from an Age UK Gloucestershire funded project with veterans, the chapter shows how Connected Listening foregrounds care, multi-modality and listening across chronological age and temporality. The chapter positions the term within an interdisciplinary framework drawing on conceptual and methodological work from sound studies, memory studies and social and cultural geography, and is indebted to Kathleen Stewart’s (2007) work on the intensities and sparks within “conditions of connection.”
