Abstract
Where the Jungle Meets the Sea... The World is Split in two was shown at the Afrolatindigenous Fiesta in London in 2024. This event was coordinated by José Canepa with the Centre for Postcolonial Studies at Goldsmiths University and its director Francisco Carballo, as well as being a wider collaboration between all those involved. Afrolatindigenous Fiesta was a festival of Central and South American culture in which diverse practices were brought together to share histories of entangled roots - Indigenous, Latin and Afro. The region’s longstanding histories of resistance were foregrounded, with cultural and artistic practices forming a central part of that continuity. The festival unfolded as a celebration of life, maintaining the importance of festivity as a traditional and collective form of cultural expression. This film work was also shown at the Hardwick Gallery in Unlit Path and with Sedition Art.
