Abstract
This case study examines the challenges of Elida Winery, a small Bulgarian family business, through the lens of Elena, a second-generation winemaker. Despite her expertise and dedication, Elena faced conflict with her father, the controlling share holder over business operations and financial management. This highlights issues of generational tension, leadership dynamics, and the risks of family-run enterprises. With mounting debt, an unsustainable workload, and limited decision-making power, Elena faces a critical choice: continue under challenging conditions, redefine her role or leave the business. This case offers insights into family business governance, cash flow management, and the impact of poor communication on business sustainability.
