Abstract

This book chapter defines Marian Fricker's concept of Epistemic Injustice. We consider this idea in relation to a criminal case which took place in the UK, arguing the police investigation of this case embodied the idea of ‘Identity Power'. We then go on to outline the concepts of Testimonial and Hermeneutic Injustice as defined by Fricker, giving case study examples which demonstrate the relevance of these to Social Work practice.
