Abstract

Chair Dr Matt Tidmarsh, Associate Professor in Criminal Justice, University of Leeds and Chair of the Probation Institute Research Panel. Speakers: Ian Marder, Associate Professor in Criminology at Maynooth University, Ireland; Co-Deputy Director of the Centre for Criminology and Restorative Practices Officer. Ian’s research explores how restorative justice can be used to prevent, reduce and repair the harm caused by crime and criminal justice, while reorienting justice to meet citizens' and professionals' needs. He will talk about how restorative justice can be used pre-sentence, as well as the role of probation and the courts in restorative justice in Ireland. Dr Jon Hobson, Research Lead for Social Sciences at the University of Gloucestershire; Jon’s research focuses on the interconnected issues of conflict and reconciliation.
