Abstract

Photographic work from Billingham's body of work 'Zoo' was included in 'On Animals', Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, (27th May - 24th September 2023). This exhibition comprised works from forty artists from the gallery’s permanent collection including Elizabeth Frink, Ray Howard-Jones and Graham Sutherland. The works spanned several centuries and depicted our changing attitude and representations of the other animals we share our planet with. It explored the lives of animals and the many ways that we as humans impact on them and how these complex relationships are reflected in a variety of art forms. Works included painting, drawing, photography, textiles, and ceramics. The exhibition was accompanied by a full programme of workshops, family trails, and events.
