Abstract

Murray's World, an exhibition of new work and a selection of personal work by British photographer Matthew Murray. Murray draws on his surroundings and often he combines a sharp eye for detail with mischievous wit, resulting in shots that are an astute analysis of our time and contemporary culture. Although many of his shots seem effortless and random, murray extensively researches new locations before a shooting. he will be attending the opening party. location: langestraat 47 'Murray's World' Curated by Addie Vassie and Matthew Murray Gallery Vassie was established by British photography historian & curator Addie Vassie, previously of both The Victoria & Albert Museum and The Photographers' Gallery in London, she also ran a photography gallery in London's Notting Hill for a number of years. Gallery Vassie exhibits and represents both well-known, established artists from the late 19th and 20th centuries, and also represents a diverse stable of contemporary photographers. Carrying many early vintage pieces in their collection, from the likes of Jacques Henri Lartigue, Norman Parkinson & Brian Duffy, alongside modern and contemporary works of for example, Michelle Sank, Matthew Murray, Henry Horenstein, Antoni & Alison as well as unique, one-off pieces by Christopher Bucklow. The ongoing philosophy of Gallery Vassie is to continue introducing a diversity of renowned, critically acclaimed photographers alongside lesser-known gems from the international photography community.
