Lovett, Matthew (2015) Company of Trees. [Composition]Full text not available from this repository.
The composition and sound design for the artwork Company of Trees was a commission by Ffotogallery & Wales In Venice to work with the artist Helen Sear as part of her exhibition …the rest is smoke, which was shown at the Venice Biennale 2015. The composition was initially commissioned as a response to a brief that set out speculative themes and sound materials, and subsequently developed into a more collaborative project between the artist and composer resulting in an expanded set of concepts and audiovisual designs for the overall artwork. The composition was accompanied by a published essay that further explored and set out the conceptual and musical reference points for the project.
|Additional Information:||Ffotogallery has published a companion publication to the exhibition Helen Sear, …the rest is smoke. As well as images from the exhibition, the publication features a specially commissioned text by Steven Connor, Professor of English at the University of Cambridge; a short essay by Matthew Lovett (Composer, Company of Trees), and an ‘in conversation’ between curator Stuart Cameron and the artist illuminating the ideas and influences that have guided her in the development and realisation of the work.|
