Abstract

Photographic work from Billingham's series 'Rays a Laugh' was exhibited in 'The Dream of Myself, the Dream of the World', Fotomuseum Winterthur, Switzerland, (12 March - 9 October 2005) curated by Thomas Seelig and Urs Stahel. This exhibition was about social identity and grappled with the questions: Who am I? Who defines me? How free am I? How can I find myself? Other artists included Rineke Dijkstra, Robert Frank, Urs Lüthi, Walter Pfeiffer, Valie Export, Peter Hujar, Mark Morrisroe, Nan Goldin, George Tony Stoll, Ugo Rondinone, Maria Friberg, Daniele Buetti and others. There was a fully illustrated catalogue.
