Abstract

This paper presents an original approach to measuring situation awareness that was invented and developed by the authors of this paper. This approach uses the well-established technique of signal detection theory to assess many aspects of SA, both within individuals and teams, and across a wide range of situations. There are however, many others applications of this approach currently being developed by the authors and also other workers in the general area of situation awareness.
