Veterans' Voices

Having to peel a four-foot-high mountain of potatoes, escaping from a Korean POW camp (twice), putting on a jazz show in the deserts of Aden and learning how to be a ‘proper bloke’. These are all stories told in interview and in video form for a digital storytelling project led by Age UK Gloucestershire and staff and students from the University of Gloucestershire.

As you will hear in the interviews conducted by University of Gloucestershire Media School journalist students, belonging to this project meant a lot for those involved. It was a time of getting together, and not just walking down memory lane, but taking us all by the hand and showing us what it was like. Being on the project brought these veterans together and the sense of camaraderie, determination in all the project’s events and challenges was a positive experience.
